Bed-to-bed processes

Consider hygiene at every stage of the journey

The bed-to-bed process involves removing soiled linens and personal items from a resident’s room, processing it through your laundry system and returning clean linens and personals back to the room. Whilst this may seem like a simple operation, there are lots of factors to consider if you want to avoid contamination and ensure infection control.

In terms of laundry cycle management, there should be procedures in place for the collection, pre-sorting and storing of dirty linen,
conditioning and transporting that linen to the laundry and then sorting it into batches for washing. Once cleaned, it should be
prepared for delivery, transported back to wards and properly stored, before being put on a clean bed.
